I'm an eejit  I just remembered the exact same thing happened to me. I wondered why I didn't get the notification, then I also noticed the GWX system32 folder, clicking the icons also did nothing.

Then one day I got the notification and the system tray icon. It must have to do with the windows schedule for this, you just seem to be on a particularly late one :tard:

Don't hurry with upgrading just yet - it's a little buggy and would do better with a few more patches. I say wait for a month-or-so.

How bad was it? Did you have to use system restore to go back to Windows 7?

No, it's just annoying. I have to download an app for everything. I can't even watch DVDs with Windows Media Player anymore.

the link with the direct download I gave on the thread now has an edit addressing the needing product key thing. I might give it a go then :tard2:

I would say Win10 is a mixture of Win7 and Win8, taking the better parts of both. It boots much faster than Win7 and also slightly faster than Win8. The bugs and inconveniences I mentioned before are no trouble if you're willing to mess around in the settings a little.

Those whining about the privacy concerns are just naiive - PC's were always monitored, now Microsoft is just being more overt about it. Although, about the infamous section 7b of the EULA, I got a little concerned myself because I may-or-may-not-have one-or-two-or-more programs on my PC that I have obtained by, how do I put it, not compensated for the services rendered... The latest news on this front seems to indicate that the software disabling policy applies to mostly only Windows Store content, for now. Vague, I know, but so is everything around this matter for now.

I don't quite get it. What do they monitor exactly?
Do they want to encourage people to pay for apps? are they more strict about the Window Store or about any software in general (although that seems very strange and really difficult to track).

I downloaded win10 for my tablet. Didn't install yet. We would really like to make a format first and then install fresh, not just upgrade.
