What bands are you guys into currently? Name your 3 favorites of the moment.
I'm going trough a totally musical-confusing stage, so i just listen to random ...jazz stations.

oh, good, you mean at the moment. It's a very hard question already; if you had said of all time, I'd think I would have to put a curse on you :P

for the last 11/12 years, my favourite artist has been Devin Townsend, hands down. But because he's so prolific, I've begun to get tired of his music from overexposure, and from a slight dip in quality (though this is judging harshly, just because the standard he set is so high).

Then, Neurosis. (Also judging them by an extremely harsh standard, because of their high quality, I think they need to reinvent themselves a bit already. but I digress) That said, because of the nature of their music, I don't listen to them as often.

Agalloch. The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain are masterpieces to me. The last two albums, refer to what I said about DT and Neurosis :tard2: Maybe it's me being too picky or spoiled, but because there's so much good stuff out there, when a band doesn't reinvent themselves or adds new elements continually, I feel a bit disappointed when two albums in a row are similar sounding, even if the music is really good :tard2:

I listen to whatever I'm in the mood for, obviously, so "favorites" can change by the hour. Instead, I'll just give some long-time favorites whom I have great respect for or to whom I keep coming back to.

    - Evanescence / Amy Lee
    - Rammstein
    - Under the broad category "classical music"

Honorable mentions go to (for constantly being in my playlists for over 10 years) Moby, Queen, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, Fatboy Slim. Ah, I want to keep going...

FiS is going to have a very low opinion of me now but... Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden ! :tard2:

that's the first music that really kicked my ass as a kid, nothing can trump that feeling ! :horns:

have I heard harder, more technical, more melodic, more accomplished musicians, more polished music.. ? sure ! I even like a bunch of weirdo electronic stuff but nothing beats that feeling that first grabbed you by the bawlz [IMG]

lulwat, no. most people who delve into metal do it through those bands, so those are the bands that kicked my ass as a kid too. I still hold Maiden in high regard..Metallica no because St. Anger is the worst album of all time and because they clearly lack passion now and Lars and Kirk have no respect for the fans and their instruments and just don't bother anymore. Megadeth is in decline, Dave is a fucking retard but I guess I still like them, even if their output is meh. :o
So, no, I completely understand your position, it's just that to answer Iris' question, currently those bands I mentioned move me more. And the likelihood they'll overtake childhood faves is high :o
